Kayak Fishing trips going strong

A friend of mine referred these brothers to me and as it turns out, they are the sons of an old High school teacher of mine. Really great guys. Never thought that my wood shop teacher would come back to life in this form so many years later, very cool. I had no idea he was even a fisherman and had passed his passion down to them. There was 8 years between the two of them and it was interesting to observe the diferences. They were both really into it and I really enjoy that. Theres nothing worse for a guide, when clients show up and we are more enthousiastic about the sport than the clients! Catching fish out of a kayak is so much more than catching fish. Its a raw combination of paddling, fishing and endurance all rolled into one. Its much more independant than charters aboard my boat. First off, Reel Therapy kayak fishing clients need to be able to fish, and that means, casting, tying knots and landing fish all on there own.Sure, I am nearby and net fish and do ri

Asbury Surf at Daybreak after ANOTHER stormy night

Image
I hit the suds at daybreak with 3 Guides Choice Lures lures in my pocket. An Old School swimmer, the Bunka Boy and the giant Pencil Poppa, which I probably could have cast to England if it wasnt blowing so hard. Unfortunately, the bass were nowhere to be found, but I had fun nonetheless. I ruined this little guys morning as the old school swimmer's barbless hook ran thru the trough and into his back. He swam away cursing, but he was fine. oops... Gotta love the early morning lighting, especially with a cell phone camera.

This Mornings wind and rain proved to be a blessing in disguise

Had great topwater popper action with Bass to 26" and Blues to 9 lbs. Really lovin the fact that our rivers are paying off. We would be toast without so many options and one thing is for sure, if boat wasn't trailered we couldn't take advantage of this. Sorry no pix, way to wet to breakout the gear. Oh and later on we switched over to fluke and only got one, but is was a 22" on a bucktail and gulp combo.

Bass Bangin Topwaters

Bass Bangin Topwaters This springs weather has been nothing short of crazy. Early spring had us wondering where the rains were and then we are praying for the winds to stop. The temperatures have been all over the board, and have been playing games with the ocean temps. This may make for tough fluke fishing, but it has been a blessing for the stripers, and if this un seasonable cooler weather sticks around, its feeling like we will continue to be banging bass well into July. Our waters here are normally over 80 in the rivers on July 4th but we are still barely crackin 60. Clients with great enthusiasm make me happy!   With all this crazy weather, we are switching between our boat and if we cant get out front, breaking the kayaks out and hitting the backwaters. We get to spots that even our shallow draft Jones cant get too. Talk about up close and personal fishing. Its been bass and blues of all shapes and sizes since early April. Booking trips has been easy,
